Session chairs will be in meeting rooms five minutes before the session.

Poster Presentation
Poster sessions form an excellent medium for authors to present papers and meet with interested attendees for in-depth technical discussions. In addition, attendees find the poster sessions a good way to sample many papers in parallel sessions. Finally you have a much longer interval of time to present your work to smaller groups in comparison to oral sessions.

The ideal poster is designed to attract attention, provide a brief overview of your work, and initiate discussion. Your message must be clearly and noticeably displayed to attract people who might have an interest in your paper.

For your poster, a board will be provided which measures 120 cm tall by 240 cm wide (landscape orientation). You must tack up your poster before or at the start of the session. It is also your responsibility to remove your poster before the following session starts.

Some useful tips for your poster presentation:

•  The title of your poster should appear at the top in CAPITAL letters about 25mm high. Below the title put the author(s)' name(s) and affiliation(s).

•  The flow of your poster should be from the top left to the bottom right. You may use arrows to lead your viewer through the poster. Use color for highlighting and to make your poster more attractive. Use pictures, diagrams, cartoons, figures, etc., rather than text wherever possible.

•  Try to state your main result in 6 lines or less, in lettering about 15mm high so that people can read the poster from a distance and can grasp the content in one holistic look.

•  The smallest text on your poster should be at least 9mm high, and the important points should be in a larger size. Use a sans-serif font ("Helvetica" PostScript font) to make the print easier to read from a distance.

•  Make your poster as self-explanatory as possible. This will save your efforts for technical discussions. There will  be a brief oral summary presentation session at the beginning of the poster sessions at EUSIPCO2005. The authors should prepare 2 to 4 PowerPoint slides for their poster presentations.

•  You must attend your poster during the whole two hours duration of the poster session.

Oral Presentations
Each paper is allocated 20 minutes, made up of 15 minutes of actual paper presentation with the remaining 5 minutes for questions and discussions. All presenters are kindly requested to contact the chairperson at the start of the session and to upload their Powerpoint file to the computer in the session room. No overhead projector will be available in the rooms.


EUSIPCO 2005 Paper Preparation and Submission Instructions

1.   General Information

•  Papers submitted to EUSIPCO-2005 must describe original, unpublished work. The papers must contain a complete description of the ideas presented and applicable research results

•  Papers must conform to the format and style specified in Section 2.   The deadline for the submission of full papers is Jan. 22, 2005.   The maximum paper length including figures and references is four (4) pages.   No person may appear as author (first author or coauthor) on more than four papers.

•  Based on comments from the reviewers, it will be possible to make changes to your paper before it is submitted in its final, camera-ready form on May 9, 2005.

•  All submitted papers that conform to the style instructions specified in Section 2, will be reviewed by    anonymous reviewers, selected by the conference committee for their demonstrated knowledge of particular topics. The review process will be carried online and the results of the reviewing will be posted on this website, and authors will also be notified of the review results by email.

•  Accepted papers will be published in the EUSIPCO 2005 Proceedings (CD-ROM).

•  Three best paper awards will be presented to authors with student status. The student author's name must appear first on the paper. If you are eligible, please check the appropriate box during the submission process.

•  At least one author of each accepted paper must register for the conference no later than May 4, 2005. (The EUSIPCO 2005 registration site will be opened in due time)

2.   Paper Format and Style

In case of acceptance of your paper, the electronic paper version (PDF or PS file) submitted by you will be directly reproduced in the EUSIPCO 2005 Proceedings. Your strict adherence to the format and style specifications described in this section is required to maintain uniformity of appearance throughout the Proceedings

2.1   Format

•  The maximum paper length including figures and references is four (4) pages.

•  Do not put page numbers on your document . We will add appropriate page numbers to accepted papers when the conference proceedings are assembled.

•  All material must fit in a 176 x 240 mm (6.93 x 9.45 inch) area with a left margin of 17 mm (0.67 inch) and a top margin of 25 mm (1 inch). On the first page, the top margin has to be 32 mm (1.26 inch).

•  All text must appear in two columns with a column spacing of 6 mm (0.24 inch). Figures and tables may span the two columns if necessary.

2.2   Style

•  All text must be single-spaced.

•  The recommended font size is 10 point. The font size must be at least 9 point (capital letters at least 2 mm high) and at most 11 point.

•  The recommended font is Times Roman or Times New Roman .

2.2.1   Title Area

•  The paper title is to appear in boldface capital letters, centered across the top of the two columns on the first page. The recommended font size for the paper title is 13 point.

•  The name(s) of the author(s) should appear below the title in italic letters, followed by the affiliation(s), address(es), and email address(es).

2.2.2   Abstract

•  The paper abstract appears below the title area on the first page as the first item on the left-hand column.

•  Allow 11 mm (0.43 inch) vertical space between title area and abstract.

•  The abstract should not contain more than 150 words.

2.2.3   Headings

•  Major headings should be numbered and appear in boldface capital letters, centered within the respective column.

•  Subheadings should be numbered, left aligned in the respective column, and in boldface letters.

•  Sub-subheadings—if they cannot be avoided—should be left aligned in the respective column and in italic letters; they may be numbered.

2.2.4   Equations

•  Equations should be centered within the respective column.

•  We recommend labeling only those equations that are referenced in the paper.

2.2.5   Figures and Tables

•  All figures and tables must be referred to in the paper. They must be numbered and have captions.

•  Figures and tables should be placed at the top of the respective page if possible. "Wide" figures and tables may span the two columns.

•  Color and halftone illustrations must be such that they are acceptable when printed in black and white; however colors will be visible in the CD-ROM proceedings.

•  For acceptable resolution and easy PS->PDF conversion, we recommend to use Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format for vector graphics and Tagged Image File (TIF) format for pixel graphics. The resolution should be at least 300 dpi.

2.2.6   References

•  References are numbered either in order of appearance in the paper or in alphabetical order.

•  They are referred to by the respective reference number enclosed by square brackets (e.g., [2]).

•  Examples:

3.   Paper Submission

•  Papers must be submitted through the EUSIPCO 2005 submission site at . When entering the electronic submission system for the first time, you will have to "sign up'' to get a user ID and password.

•  Accepted file formats are PDF (preferred) and PS. All PS files will be converted to PDF by the paper submission system. To avoid problems, it is recommended that authors perform the PS->PDF conversion themselves and submit a PDF file.

•  All fonts used must be embedded in the PDF or PS file. However, Asian fonts must not be used nor embedded. Documents that do not print correctly on a PostScript printer cannot be accepted. (When printing the PDF file, make sure that the "shrink to fit'' box is not checked!)

•  In addition to uploading their paper, authors are required to provide the following information (ASCII text) via the submission web site:

•  Paper title,

•  Affiliations, email addresses, and mailing addresses for each author

•  Text file containing paper abstract text, in ASCII text format (for copying and pasting into web page form) (no more than 150 words), and

•  Two topic areas for the paper.

•  To submit your document and author information, go to the 'Paper Submission' link on the EUSIPCO 2005 homepage: . After you submit the information on the paper title, abstract text, review category, and author contact information, the system will display a page with the data that you entered so that you may verify its accuracy. If you need to change the data to fix a mistake, you may use the back button on your browser to return to the information entry form. After approval of your data, you may choose your document file for upload at the bottom of the verification page. Your browser will upload your file to the EUSIPCO 2005 server. At the end of a successful upload, you will see a confirmation page displaying the paper number that is assigned to you, and email message will be sent to the authors' email addresses to confirm that the file has been uploaded. If you do not see the confirmation page after uploading your file, we may not have successfully received your file upload. If you encounter trouble, contact the paper submission support at: .

4.   Review Process

Your submitted paper will be converted to PDF format by the submission system if necessary, then visually inspected by our submission system staff to assure that the document is readable and meets all formatting requirements to be included in a visually pleasing and consistent proceedings publication for EUSIPCO-2005. If our submission inspectors encounter errors with your submitted file, they will contact you to resolve the issue. If your paper passes inspection, it will be entered into the review process. A committee of reviewers selected by the conference committee will review the documents and rate them according to quality, relevance, and correctness. The conference technical committee will use these reviews to determine which papers will be accepted for presentation in the conference. The result of the technical committee's decision will be communicated to the submitting authors by email, along with any reviewer comments if there were any.

5. Register for the Conference

Be sure that at least one author registers to attend the conference using the online registration system available through the conference website: . Each paper must have at least one author registered. The payment must be received by the deadline of the author registration.

EUSIPCO 2005 will organize a student paper competition, which is becoming one of the traditional activities of the EUSIPCO conferences. Papers submitted with students as first authors will be eligible to enter the competition. The student authors should nominate themselves for the student paper competition, which will then be further evaluated by the conference reviewers and select the deserving award recipients. The competition award winners will be listed on the official EUSIPCO 2005 website as well as receive recognition in the Eurasip Newsletter. There will also be monetary awards.

This student paper competition is a great opportunity for student researchers, and we encourage all eligible student authors to participate. For eligibility, students must be the first author of the nominated paper, must attend EUSIPCO 2005 conference and present the paper.

Student Paper Competition Guidelines
Students interested in participating in the Student Paper Competition should register for the Conference via the Online Registration and Paper Submission System from the Conference Website. The student author should be listed as the first author. The first author will be considered the “corresponding author” and will be required to coordinate communication with the Conference. Other individuals may be listed as co-authors, if appropriate. Paper must comply with all the rules of paper submission for EUSIPCO2005 for the student paper to be reviewed during the Student Paper Competition Process. Rules for manuscript preparation for the paper must be followed as outlined on the conference web site under PAPER PRESENTATION.

A student may submit up to two entries (on substantially different topics). Each student must indicate that their paper is to be considered for the competition by checking the appropriate box at the Conference Online Registration and Paper Submission System when registering the Paper.

The Review Process
A committee of reviewers selected by the conference committee will review the documents and rate them according to quality, relevance, and correctness. The conference technical committee will use these reviews to determine which papers will be accepted for presentation in the conference. If a paper nominated for the student paper competition is accepted by the Conference, the paper will automatically advance to the Paper Review for the Paper Competition.

The Student Paper Competition Committee will use the reviewer's scores to select the top entries. Ten (10) Finalists with the highest average score will be selected. Each Finalist must attend the Conference and present his or her paper in the regular conference program, either as an oral or poster presentation - no substitutes will be permitted and those papers whose first authors do not present their papers will be withdrawn from the competition. A panel of judges will review each presentation. First, second, and third place winners will be selected based on the professionalism of the presentation, verbal communication skills, and the technical merit of the topic. Multiple papers may be selected for first, second and third places in case of equal scores.

All finalists for the student paper competition will be invited to attend the conference banquet. (They will be given free banquet tickets). The first, second, and third place winners will be announced at the conference banquet. The winners of the STUDENT PAPER COMPETITION will receive an engraved plaque and an honorarium of $500 Eur for the first place winner, $400 Eur for the second place winner, and $300 Eur for the third place winner. The competition award winners will be listed on the official EUSIPCO 2005 website as well as receive recognition in the Eurasip Newsletter.
